Grade Calculator — What You Need on the Final to Get the Grade You Want
The most urgent grade calculation in any semester is: what score do I need on the final exam to earn a specific grade in the course? The formula is: required final score = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) / final weight. If the final is worth 30%, you have 75% currently, and you want 80%: required = (80 − 75 × 0.70) / 0.30 = (80 − 52.5) / 0.30 = 91.7%. Weighted grade calculation assigns different percentage weights to different assignment categories.
