Image to BMP Converter — When Raw Uncompressed Pixels Are Required
BMP (Bitmap) is one of the oldest image formats, introduced with Windows 1.0 in 1985. It stores every pixel as raw data with no compression — a 1920×1080 BMP file takes roughly 6MB regardless of whether the image is a solid color or a complex photograph. That sounds like a disadvantage until you need guaranteed, lossless, zero-artifact pixel data for software that cannot decode compressed formats.
Industrial machine vision software, medical imaging pipelines, legacy Windows GDI applications, and some embedded system firmware require BMP input because they lack JPEG or PNG decoders. Microsoft Paint historically defaulted to BMP. Some Windows printer drivers and fax software still expect BMP for accurate color reproduction without decoding overhead.
